Through BestUKCareHomes.com you can access the six types of care homes and choose the right one depending on what sort of care and support your loved one needs. Follow the links below to read more about your options:

Day Care

Day Care may be the right option for a loved one who wishes to remain in their own home, but whom may need some additional support during the day. This type of care is provided away from the person’s home and transport is usually arranged as part of the service.

This home-away-from-home provides your loved one with a friendly, comfortable and stimulating environment where they will gain access to:

  • Mix with and meet others, particularly if they are isolated at home
  • Stimulation through activities and social contact
  • The opportunity to re-learn skills they may have lost through illness or disability or to learn new skills they need to cope with changing circumstances
  • A meal and (at some day centres) a bath

Many of our day care centres provide care for people with dementia, physical frailty or simply those who want a more active social environment, while carers have the peace of mind in knowing they are safe and active.

Dementia Care

These homes offer specialist care and support to elderly residents who remain physically able but are living with various forms of dementia including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia or dementia with Lewy Bodies.

Increasingly, this form of care is provided in living environments that are specifically designed or adapted to meet the needs of people with dementia – with specially designed signage to aid orientation, memory boxes to identify individuals’ rooms, and open living areas for additional safety.

Nursing Care

Similar to a Residential Care home, nursing care offers the same assistance and support but with the added benefit of professional registered nurses and experienced care assistants in constant attendance. They will be on hand to provide 24-hour nursing care to residents for more complex health needs as prescribed by doctors.

Many of these homes will also offer rehabilitation services. These can include different therapies, such as physical and speech, as well as specialist health care, such as dementia care, EMI nursing care and cancer care. These homes also offer nursing equipment such as specialist beds and assisted bathrooms.

Having a place to call home that also offers professional registered nursing is ideal for those who do not wish to re-locate in the eventuality that their circumstances may change or for those who would like to live with partners or friends who have different care needs.

Residential and Nursing Care

Residential and nursing care provides the comfortable accommodation and on-site assistance with daily tasks as detailed in the Residential Care section, along with expert nursing aid for those who are in need of healthcare.

Having a place to call home that also offers professional registered nursing is ideal for those who do not wish to re-locate in the eventuality that their circumstances may change or for those who would like to live with partners or friends who have different care needs.

Residential Care

Residential care provides safe, clean and comfortable accommodation for older people who wish to live amongst their peers in a welcoming environment, but whom may require some general care assistance.

Our friendly care support workers are on hand to assist with an array of daily tasks, such as:

  • Personal hygiene including bathing, shaving, oral hygiene and nail care
  • Continence management including toileting, skin care, incontinence laundry and bed changing
  • Food preparation, fulfilling dietary requirements and assisting with eating
  • Counselling and support including psychological support, behaviour management and setting up reminding devices
  • Simple treatments including assistance with medication, the application of simple dressings and lotions, as well as oxygen therapy
Our residential care homes also arrange a host of stimulating and entertaining social activities and regular outings for your loved one to enjoy.

Respite Care

Our respite care service is in place to offer carers and the elderly temporary relief from their usual care routine.

We understand that families and friends often need a break from their care duties, and with our respite care service, can feel assured that their loved ones will be provided with professional attention whilst they attend to chores, get some rest or take a well-earned holiday.

Professional care is tailored around each individual and we welcome visitors into our day centres, arrange home visits or provide temporary residential care for those who may prefer a relaxing environment to recuperate in after operations.
